Distant Music

The flood of ‘relaxing piano music’, which is often soporifically uniform, demanded a response: music for organ, with the same purpose, but with its own sound. Whether that succeeded I leave to the users, but as alternatim parts in a concert programme it often worked very well. The audience is left alone for a moment, letting the music, which sounds ‘distant’, wash over them, after which attention is again given to ‘denser’ music and stronger registrations.
